I love the films, got a few films to see at the cinema at the moment:Going to see Avatar in 3D this week-looking forward to all the pretty colours.Sherlock Holmes coz I love modern adaptions and Guy Ritchie and Robert Downy Jr.Also prompted because I saw Young Sherlock Holmes, directed by Barry Levinson over christmas- it was one of my friends childhood favorites that I apparently missed. Also Book of Eli looks worth a watch.
Saw Baz Luhrmanns adapption of Romeo and Juliet recently, bought it for some research for the moving image project.I have to say,I do really enjoy Shakespeare,Romeo and Juliet was one of his plays I studied in detail.I love the way the script is kept to quite tightly without ruining the screenplay i.e Montague's 'Longsword' being his shotgun in his limo.
Waltz with Bashir was another film I saw recently that I thought was amazing. It is based on a true story about the 1982 Lebanon war.It goes through the voyage of discovery of a veteran who remembers nothing of his time there. The animation is beautiful.
Listening to alot of dubstep,I really like finding novel ideas for tunes and videos that give a real sense of the imagery:
PRINTER JAM- Remix by Mistabishi.
MARIO IS DEAD by Super Dub Brothers.
NIGHT by Benga and Coki

Started the moving image project on Friday, looks like its going to be a goodun'.The basic theme of our script is loneliness- its about a girl who is 'invisible' to everyone in her life and feels very isolated. We had 2 genres to choose from- either a comedy where this character is a super hero who is actually invisible; or a dark possibly slightly horror genre with lots of freaky depressing imagery sticking to the literal loneliness theme. We chose the latter.
The role I am filling in the group is the director,I chose to put myself forward for the role because I like the idea of being the one to oversee the choices the group has made as a whole and get our ideas across through the production stage.
Meeting with the team on Monday to discuss the script and feel of the film further,do some research into noir genre films and search out some set locations.

Finally Larry is done,we have filmed him and he is uploaded.Im really pleased with the way the film turned out,the photos were edited to create a vintage feel and the 8-bit style music complements Larrys naive style.
There were 3 different shots in the film,a first person when Larry is sneaking up on Leona,a follow shot when he chases her down the path and a(I think)establishing shot for where he chases her round the trees. Combining these different shots allows to keep the audiences interest by making there eye follow (and miss) some points in the action.

This is a stop frame animation film about a muffin who goes traveling,he is a builder who lives on an island with a load of cakey friends. One day he decides to make himself a boat.He wrecks his boat on an island inhabited by fruits and vegetables, they are weary of him at first until he helps them create a town using his building skills. He falls in love with a butternut squash and she makes him a house out of a melon. He discards his sugary topping under the instruction of all the veggies and feels alot better. One day he decides to return home, his new friends build him a boat and his squashy lover gives him some seeds as a parting gift. When he returns home he is shunned by his sweet companions because he removed his icing. He plants the seeds that he was given in his window box. That night there is a bad ass storm which floods the town and threatens the live of the folk that live there. The muffin harvests his carrots from the window box, builds a tower and saves everyone.
This film looked like wicked fun to make and has a kind of healthy eating moral although it is slightly disturbing when the muffin and butternut squash get it on.
Interactive Narrative

I have attempted to solve the interactive narrative brief using a combination of photography and some crappy vector graphics.Im not massive on illustration either in photoshop or illustrator but it was the easiest way of quickly creating some assets and trying to get to grips with the software.I found flash frustrating for a couple of hours but when I got into it it wasnt so bad.
Im not well pleased with my current draft but I have learned the basics of Flash and can see the potential of the program relating to interactive narratives as well as animation.
The main problem I had with this project was trying to be creative and learn a new peice of software at the same time, and I think my idea wasnt great either.
I shall upload my video as soon as I find someone to shew me how.
